Marlon has made this dish 4,000 times

One cook, his hands, his name. The tapa that most people on the island have eaten without knowing who made it.

Long table · Sample entry

This table only comes out three times a week

Why the long table is a drop, not a booking. The dates, the seats, and why six left means six left.

The Guild · Sample entry

The Council of Strangers, first sitting

Eight people who had never met, one question in the middle, no phones. What got said, roughly, and what the Guild learned.

The lot · Sample entry

Night one

The soft opening at the gate. The crew, the first beads, the thing that went wrong and the thing that did not.

9am in Siargao and nobody is awake yet

The breakfast rebuilt from the market up. Tapa, pandesal, a coffee that is actually from here.

The nipa stage

A local guitarist, a floor full of guests, and the night the lot found out it had a music room.

Hands only

The banana-leaf table, the rules of eating with your hands, and why we do it once a week whatever the weather.

Press · Sample entry

Someone flew in because of a paragraph

What Condé Nast wrote, who read it on a plane, and what happened when they turned up at the gate.

Happenings

The lot runs on a weekly rhythm. These are the fixed nights. Dates for each month go out in the Journal and on WhatsApp first, to the Guild.

Three nights a week

The long table

Progressive Filipino, shared. The table comes out three times a week and seats go by drop. When it says six left, it means six.

Ask for a seat
One night a week

The Council of Strangers

One table, people who arrived separately, no phones, one question in the middle. Runs at six, seats fourteen.

Take a seat
One night a week

Kamayan

Banana leaves down the table, hands only. Grilled fish, rice, mango, whatever the market gave us that morning.

Book seats
June to August

The residency night

Each artist in residence gives one public night: a talk, an open studio, a workshop or a set on the nipa stage.

About the residency
New moon

The Dark Sky Watch

Within four days of the new moon, if the sky is clear at five. Phones in the bag, an hour on your back.

The residency

A room on the lot and ₱800 a day at Wild, for fourteen to twenty-eight nights between June and August. In return: six posts, twenty good photos or two minutes of footage, and one public night. You keep your work. Filipino artists only for now.

Two artists at a time, at most. Eight questions on the form, two people decide.

You'll want in

The Journal lands once a month. The long table dates and the Council seats go to the list first, then to the Guild on WhatsApp, then to everyone else.
